Lantang/Gosainkunda Trek

Day 01: Kathmandu to Dhunche:
Drive about 9 hrs by local bus on a paved highway that twists and climbs over ridges to the Trishuli valley. The road finally reaches Dhunche after 3 hrs drive from Betrawoti. Stay overnight at Dhunche.

Day 02: Dhunche to Syabru Village:
Trek down to Syabru River and, after crossing it, trek up hill about 2 hrs for lunch with magnificent views of Mt.Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Mt.Kerung and of Tibet. Trek further for 2 hrs through pine and rhododendron forest until reaching Syabru village for an overnight stay (approximately 6hrs walking).

Day 03: Syabru village to Lama Hotel:
Trek downwards approximately 2 hrs through a forest, then upward for 1 hr to reach Bombu village (1850m.) for lunch. Gradually ascend through Bombu jungle to reach the Lama Hotel for an overnight rest (5hrs walking).

 Day 04: Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley:
Trek on through rhododendron and pine forest for about 3 hrs until reaching Ghora Tabela for lunch. After approximately another 3hrs trekking the trail reaches Langtang village. Buddhist Tamangs and Tibetans inhabit in the village. Stay overnight at Langtang valley.

Day 05: Langtang valley to Kyanjing Gompa: (3700 m.):
The trail continues for approximately 4 hrs until it reaches Kyanjing Gompa. After lunch stay overnight there. This place offers beautiful views of Mt. Ganchempo & Langtang Himal.

Day 06: Explore around Kynjing Gompa

Day 07: Kyanjing Gompa to Langtang valley:
Trek back through the same route.

Day 08: Langtang valley to Lama Hotel:
Trek back through the same route.

Day 09: Lama Hotel to Syabru village:
Trek back through the same route.

Day 10: Syabru village to Sin Gompa:
The trail is mostly uphill and is characteristically Himalayan. The terrain remains forested with open areas which give good views back the way you have come. Stay overnight at Sin Gompa.

Day 11: Sin Gompa to Gosainkunda Lake: (4261):
This morning you take one of the less-trekked trails to Gosainkunda Lake. It is a steep climb, but spectacular. This is one of the highest lakes in the world.

Day 12: Gosainkunda Lake to Tharepati: (3605):
After Gosainkunda the air at todays stop, Tharepati, will seem positively thick. Wake up early to start a short climb to a pass above the Lake, followed by a steep downhill section on a high trail. Finally, over a ridge, is Tharepati. A long days walk, but spectacular.

Day 13: Tharepati to Kutumsang: (2440m):
From here we descend downhill, with only one small ridge to cross en-route. Stay overnight at Kutumsang.

Day 14: Kutumsang to Chisapani:
This is a shorter day in which you climb to Chisapani (Cold Water) where the view of the whole central Himalaya is breathtaking.

Day 15: Chisapani to Kathmandu via Sundarijal: (1460m):
From here you can see more superb views as you descend to the road through oak and rhododendron forests, with some pine at lower altitude. Continue downwards to Sundarijal.
